MAY THE HOLY SPIRIT INSPIRE US TO TRULY APPRECIATE ONE ANOTHER
We celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on the apostles. The Holy Spirit inspired the apostles to preach the good news of salvation for all humanity. The Holy Spirit inspired them to understand that God values all human beings and that we are all one in the sight of God. When we truly appreciate the gifts of God, we will also appreciate the goodness of God in every human being. God gives human being gifts not only to connect with him but also to connect us to one another. The Holy Spirit helps us to appreciate one another, share with another and will the good in everyone. God sent the Holy Spirit because He want to share something of himself with us. By sharing something of himself with us, we will be moved to share our gifts with one another. God wants human beings to have some understanding of his divine plan. It is wonderful that human beings should share something of the divine. The coming of the Holy Spirit changed everything. The Divine lives in human beings, transformed them to do mighty works that only the divine could do. Transformed them to love in the way only the divine could love. Inspired them to speak in the language only the divine could speak. Inspired them to create and do the things only the divine could do. Gave them wisdom and knowledge that only the divine could have. Removed from them the weakness of fear and gave courage to go to places that only the divine could go. Inspired them to forgive what only the divine could forgive. The descend of the Holy Spirit on the apostles brought such a tremendous transformation that led to great change in the history of humanity. A new religion was born. The Pentecost is about the birth of Christianity, the birth of the Church. It was a day like this that the apostles, moved by the Holy Spirit, preached Christ the Son of God and the Savior of the world. They followed up their preaching with great miracles, with life of love and holiness of life. All these were possible through the power of the Holy Spirit who makes things holy. Through the power of Holy Spirit the Church is made holy, the children of the Church share from this holiness. Jesus breathed on the apostles and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them.” The forgiveness of sins can only be possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit makes us holy when we participate with devotion in the activities of the Church. The Holy Spirit makes us holy as we read, listen to God’s word and participate with devotion to prayers and the worship of God. The Holy Spirit makes us holy when we participate devoutly in the holy mass and the sacraments of the Church. God freely gave human beings the gifts that will help them live like God. The Holy Spirit comes on those who are ready and willing to be used to fulfill the plan of God. The apostles opened themselves up for the Holy Spirit to use them to transform the world. Were the Holy Spirit manifests there is always a change, a new birth, a renewal, a transformation. May we allow the Holy Spirit to use us for the good of all. Paul tells us that the Holy Spirt give human beings gifts for the benefit of all. Though we are different parts but one body in Christ, joined together by the Holy Spirit. When we lovingly use our gifts we build a world that welcomes all. We pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to inspire us to love and appreciate one another. May the Holy Spirit renew the face of the earth. May the Holy Spirit heal and comfort the sick and suffering. May the Holy Spirit bring peace to places of crisis, division and war
